Effective Security Features to Protect Vital Documents

As counterfeiting becomes more sophisticated, document security is more important than ever. Official documents including health records, certificates of compliance, business licenses, election documents, tax documents, vehicle registrations, certificates of origin, and diplomas, require strong security features in order to ensure authenticity and protect sensitive information. Today’s security solutions must also effectively bridge the physical and digital world - as more and more people are storing and accessing vital documents digitally.

In response to the need for secure, counterfeit-resistant security that spans physical and digital mediums, SICPA developed CERTUS™, which offers an innovative solution by providing digitally-enabled security for official certificates, credentials, and documents issued by public and private authorities. Protected with proven blockchain technology, CERTUS records and protects key data in a secure QR code. The security solution also provides the holder verifiable proof of: the date and time of issuance of a document, current validity of a document (active, expired, revoked), the name of the issuing authority, and the authenticity of the underlying claim to confirm legitimacy. The QR code can be read with the CERTUS™ Universal Verifier, which is available for free via web and mobile apps for independent verification.

Leveraging the CERTUS™ solution can help issuing authorities retain greater control over vital documents, and give document holders and verifiers a greater degree of confidence in the security and authenticity of their documents.
